This post has been sponsored by Smithfield. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Sick of the same ol’ same ol’ party appetizers? Then you need to make this Cuban sandwich-inspired dip now. With Swiss cheese, Smithfield Anytime Favorites Hickory Smoked Diced Ham, Pickles, and Mustard, this dip has all the rich flavors of a Cuban sandwich but can be made in a flash.

Cuban Sandwich Dip with Smithfield Ham

Having recently moved to Atlanta, I've had a blast discovering all the amazing food here. In particular, I've found some great Cuban restaurants! Little hole in the wall places cranking out pressed Cuban sandwiches the size of your head all day long. Delicious, but not really anything I'd be willing to make at home.

That's why I love this dip so much. It's so rich, but it's unique! And it is roughly 1,000% easier to make than the sandwiches from my local haunts.

Speaking of discoveries, another great find for me has been Kroger. You never think about these things when you are moving. You think about where you'll live, where you might go out to dinner, and where you'll find parking, but I didn't even think about where I'd buy groceries until I got in my car and needed food.

Mixing swiss, cream cheese, and otheringredients together

Thankfully, my father pointed me to the Kroger just up the street. I was so thrilled with their selection. It seems like it's becoming harder and harder to find a store where you can buy everything you need in one place, but this Kroger nails it in that department. They even have cookware!

Bonus: you can shop this recipe directly from my post and have all the ingredients added to your shopping cart at Kroger. Super cool.

One downside of a new store, no matter how much you love it, is finding all of your favorite things inside of it! You can find the Smithfield Anytime Favorites Hickory Smoked Diced Ham called for in this Cuban sandwich dip recipe back by the meat department where the lunch meats and bacon live.

Dip ready to go in the oven

Okay, so let's assume you've secured the ham and other ingredients you need from your local Kroger. You're ready to cook!

How to make Cuban Sandwich Dip

It couldn't be any easier to make this ham and pickle dip with Swiss cheese and mustard. Just toss everything into a large bowl, and mix it all up! Then, bake it until it's hot and bubbly and serve with your favorite pita chips.

Sure, it's not one of your classic Cuban appetizers, but it's Cuban-inspired and oh-so easy to throw together.

My family went crazy over this dip, even if there was a little bit of initial trepidation when seeing the mustard color of it.

But then, as the smell of it filled the house as it baked, people started lingering in the kitchen, wondering what this amazing thing in the oven was going to taste like.

And I'll tell ya, it's better than any of us even dreamed it could be.  I mean, just look at that cheese pull.

    look at it.

Marianne, I love this recipe! Cuban sandwiches have become an obsession of mine since moving to Atlanta in 2011. I'd particularly recommend Papi's Cuban, just off of Ponce de Leon.
I also wanted to say welcome to Atlanta and all the best! Taqueria del Sol is one of my favorites, and has more of a Southern-Mexican flare. Takorea is also great, with a specialization in Mexican-Korean cuisine.
I also think you'd love the podcast Gravy, which is produced by the Southern Foodways Alliance and which focuses on southern food and culture.
      Cheers,
      Bree

I'll have to check out Papi's Cuban. I've been going to Havana Sandwich shop on Buford Hwy and love it, but always down for a new place! I'll have to check out the other places and podcast as well. I JUST caught up on my favorite Podcast ( Pocket Liquor ), so am definitely happy to have a new one to dive into. Thanks for reaching out! - Marianne
