Tomato Sauce

Three ingredient tomato sauce recipe that anyone can make, originally from Marcella Hazan

  • 28 oz canned whole peeled San Marzano tomatoes
  • 5 tablespoons butter
  • 1 large onion peeled and cut in half
  • ½ teaspoon salt


  • Place all of the ingredients in a saucepan over medium heat.
  • Simmer, uncovered, for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally, and breaking up the large chunks of tomatoes as they cook down.
  • Remove the onion and serve the remaining sauce.


Y'all don't throw that onion out! It's DELICIOUS! Eat it up!
