The first time this truck came to my office, I saw it was called "Just Eat This" and I almost turned back. The name really almost drove me away. It sounded like a hotdog truck or something. Maybe an eating competition... but certainly nothing I wanted.
But I was hungry. And I was in a bad mood. And I wanted FOOD for lunch instead of bottled water.
So I went to Just Eat This, and on a total whim, I got the special ( Corn and Crab Fritters ). Now, people, I am not generally an eater of fritters. They normally are greasy and often lacking in whatever ingredient they pretend to feature. However, the fritters at Just Eat This were Perfect. They were stuffed full of crab and corn -- a really surprising amount of it, in fact. They were also perfectly fried and not greasy at all. OH, and they were cheap. Like under $8 cheap, and I could only eat half of them, they were so filling.
Every day that Just Eat This comes to my office, I hope that day will be another day with Crab and Corn Fritters.
They are actually known for something entirely different though. Something seemingly random: Chicken and Waffles. I never thought to order it until the fifth or sixth time they came to the office, when I realized that this little truck that showed up around 11 am was running out of this one dish by 12:30 each time they came.
Must be something good, eh?
Yeah. Good. DELICIOUS. If you go to Just Eat This only one time, get the Chicken and Waffles. The waffle is of the thick Belgian variety, with a crisp piece of boneless fried chicken on top, all covered in a delicious creamy maple mustard sauce. Absolutely perfect. They also come with a side, and I got macaroni and cheese, because I wanted to sit in a food coma at my desk for the rest of the day.
Mission accomplished.
The mac and cheese is great -- it's the creamy stove-top kind, and I definitely recommend you try it if that's your thing.
TL;DR:
Don't let the odd name put you off. The food is well executed, but generally of the "heavy" variety. Definitely give the Chicken and Waffles a try if it's your first time and you don't have to do anything ridiculous like run a marathon or stay awake for a meeting later.
Value:
Good. The prices are lower than many food trucks, and frankly, the food is better.
Wait time:
On the slow side of Average. They won't make you late for your next stop but they aren't rushing you through, either. Given that all of their food tastes like it's made to order, the wait time makes sense.
Staff:
Super friendly. The woman who usually works the window is always very affable and in good spirits, even when everyone in my office descends upon their truck at once.
